Bergstrom Aerofest

Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin used to have an annual open house called Aerofest. For a few years, around 1986, they invited hot air balloons to participate. We launched the balloons next to the most expensive aircraft in America and flew over rows of fighter jets. I’m not sure you can do that today. Those were simpler times. 

Bergstrom AFB was decommissioned several years later and is now Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
